Meet your English speaking guide at Cagban Jetty Port and travel to Caticlan in the Malay area. Jump on a trike and travel past rice fields along the rough Barangay Road to Malay Poblacion. See the City Hall and typical Barangay community centre.  Take a walk through the caves to see bats, stalactites and stalagmites. The caves are surprisingly spacious and easy to explore with many open chambers.

Afterwards, meet a fisherman as he demonstrates the traditional and modern fishing methods they use, the perfect opportunity to try some fresh grilled fish. Then meet a rice farmer to learn about the rice cycles and processes. Try suman, a rice and coconut cake cooked in banana leaf.

The next stop is the Nabaoy River where lunch is served in a traditional ‘nipa’ tree hut on the banks.  Enjoy true Malaynon cuisine made from ingredients grow on the river banks. Try the fresh water shrimp, the gabi root, chicken dishes and the fern salad.  After lunch there is time to take a siesta or swim in the river.

Head back to the trike for the short journey to the Motag barangay. On the way see coconut oil production and coconut drying.  Visit the SKA Ladies Cooperative to learn the art of making soap from entirely natural ingredients. There’s also a chance to get hands on and make a woven palm leaf bag, a material known locally as banig.

Take the trike back to the jetty for the return trip to Boracay island.  The tour finishes at Cagban Jetty.
