Boracay Closure: what do I do now?

On the 4th April 2018, President Duterte announced the closure of Boracay Island, from April 26th

The reality is that whilst many visitors to the Worlds Number 1 Beach and Island only experience the beauty of White Beach, and the abundance of restaurants, bars and nightlife, underneath this has been a range of problems that has increasingly frustrated some travellers and those who call Boracay Home.

The decision has been made to close the island, so Boracay can receive some tender loving care, and rehabilitation, in order to return and claim the World Number 1 Island and Beach title again.

Boracay Bookings:

Please note, anyone with bookings where arrival is prior to the 26th April and ends past this date, you will still be able to visit the island for your holiday.

For travellers who already had bookings from May 2018 onwards there are options.   You may wish to cancel your holiday entirely and rebook once the island opens again.  This is scheduled for October 2018.

Alternatively, you might wish to redirect to another destination in the Philippines.

Boracay.Travel has a sister site which offers a range of other destinations in the Philippines, although our most comprehensive packages are in Palawan; with hotels, tours and transfers.

Our Staff Team Tess and Gold will be happy to help you with suggestions and bookings.
